The devastating floods and landslides across Indonesia’s Sumatra have claimed at least 631 lives, according to the country’s disaster agency. Authorities confirmed that one million people have been evacuated as rescue and relief operations continue.
Rescue teams are still searching for 472 people reported missing, while government agencies and aid groups are working urgently to deliver food, shelter, and medical assistance to survivors.
The scale of the disaster has overwhelmed local communities, with widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure. Officials warn that the death toll could rise further as search efforts progress in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
