India has advised all of its citizens in Iran to leave the country immediately as the security situation deteriorates at a rapid pace. The Indian Embassy in Tehran issued a statement on Wednesday urging nationals to depart without delay, citing the fast‑shifting instability gripping the country.
Those who remain in Iran have been told to exercise extreme caution and avoid areas where protests or violence are unfolding.
The warning follows similar directives from the United States, Canada and Australia in recent days. Demonstrations that began on 28 December over rising living costs have escalated into widespread violence. International sources report that thousands of people may already have been killed, adding a grim new dimension to the crisis.
In a separate development, the United States has ordered the withdrawal of some troops from the Middle East’s largest military base. Analysts view the move as a strategic repositioning amid rising regional tensions, underscoring the broader geopolitical uncertainty linked to the turmoil in Iran.
