India is eager to foster a constructive trajectory in its relations with Bangladesh, emphasizing the importance of bilateral ties for the benefit of both nations. This sentiment was expressed by Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), during a weekly press conference.
Jaiswal highlighted New Delhi’s optimistic approach toward Dhaka, affirming India’s commitment to maintaining a crime-free border. He reiterated the desire for fruitful interactions, stating, “We want India-Bangladesh relations to do well for the people of Bangladesh and the people of India.”
This positive stance comes in light of recent diplomatic exchanges, including the summoning of the Bangladeshi envoy by New Delhi. Jaiswal stressed the intention behind these actions, aiming to strengthen ties and promote collaboration between the two countries.
However, tensions have arisen on the ground as the Border Security Force (BSF) has reportedly hung glass bottles along the fence at the Lalmonirhat-Patgram border, raising concerns among local residents. As both nations navigate their relationship, the balance between security measures and community well-being remains a critical focus.
