India’s Sarfaraz Khan scored his first Test century as the hosts reduced their deficit against New Zealand in the rain-hit opening Test.

India were 344-3 when rain stopped play and lunch was called early in Bengaluru. Khan, who was injured in a car crash in December 2022, was out for over a year. India were bowled out for 46 in the first innings, their lowest total at home.

New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra led India to 402 all out. Sarfaraz and Virat Kohli led India’s fightback, but Glenn Phillips caught Kohli behind for 70.
