The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has scheduled December 4 for a hearing on the framing of formal charges against Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officer Lt. Colonel Redowanul Islam and three others in connection with the killing of 28 people in Rampura during the July–August movement. The tribunal also appointed state defense lawyers for two absconding accused.
The order was issued Monday afternoon by a two-member judicial panel of Tribunal-1, led by Justice Md. Shofiul Alam Mahmud, with retired district and sessions judge Md. Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury as the other member.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, a special operational team from the Basila Army Camp arrested nine suspects in Mohammadpur for their alleged involvement in the abduction and torture of a 25-year-old man named Shamsad.
The raid was conducted between 12:15 am and 2:30 am on Sunday night after military intelligence identified the suspects’ location. Following the operation, all nine individuals linked to the abduction and torture were taken into custody.
