The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially dismissed Pakistan’s complaint against match referee Andy Pycroft following a controversial incident during the Asia Cup. After a tense match between India and Pakistan, players from both sides skipped the traditional post-match handshake, prompting accusations of unsportsmanlike conduct.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB alleged that Pycroft failed to enforce protocol and showed bias toward the Indian team. In response, the ICC issued a statement reaffirming its support for Pycroft and emphasizing the importance of mutual respect between teams.
PCB officials have expressed disappointment and hinted at boycotting future ICC events if their concerns are not addressed. “This is not just about one match it’s about fairness and dignity,” said PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf.
The incident has reignited debate over the politicization of cricket and the role of match officials in maintaining neutrality.
