Human Remains Likely Linked to Missing Queensland Teen Pheobe Bishop Discovered

In a development that has gripped the community, Queensland police revealed on Friday evening that they have located what are believed to be human remains near Good Night Scrub National Park, close to Gin Gin. The discovery is part of the ongoing search for 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop, who has been missing since May 15.

The remains were uncovered by specialist units around 2:30 pm, following intensive investigations and further inquiries. While the remains have not yet been officially identified, authorities say they are in contact with Pheobe’s family amid the emerging evidence.

Queensland Police confirmed that two individuals, James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33, have been charged with one count each of murder and two counts each of interfering with a corpse. The charges stem from the ongoing investigation into Pheobe’s disappearance.

Detective Inspector Craig Mansfield, speaking earlier in the day, expressed cautious optimism about the significance of the find. “We are suspecting we may locate Pheobe, but it is a broad, unforgiving area that we’re trying to narrow down,” he said. He also noted that police believe her body was moved more than once, complicating the search.

A crime scene has been established at the site where the remains were found, and forensic examinations are ongoing to establish the identity and cause of death.

Authorities are appealing to the public for any information regarding Pheobe or the movement of a grey Hyundai IX35 in the greater Gin Gin area between May 15 and 18. The community remains on edge as investigators work to piece together the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and presumed death.
