Police have launched a homicide investigation after a man’s body was discovered in a park on the NSW far south coast early Monday morning.
Emergency services were called to East Street in Bega around 2am, where officers found the body in a nearby park. The man, believed to be in his 40s, has not yet been formally identified.
A crime scene has been established, with homicide detectives and forensic officers examining the area known locally as the Glebe. Investigators are analysing evidence, including an abandoned car located on a nearby road and broken glass found at the scene.
Local resident Jess Britten said she awoke to a heavy police presence outside her home but had not heard anything unusual overnight.
Police are continuing inquiries into the circumstances of the man’s death and have appealed for information from the public.
