A group of Hindu extremists allegedly attacked the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, Tripura, on Monday, following a rally protesting the perceived oppression of Hindus in Bangladesh and the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das, a former leader of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed regret over the incident, stating, “The breach of premises at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala is deeply regrettable. Diplomatic and consular properties should not be targeted under any circumstances.” The MEA also announced measures to enhance security for the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and its other offices in India.

Protesters from the Hindu Sangharsh Samity gathered near a Gandhi statue, demonstrating against the treatment of Hindus in Bangladesh. Reports indicate that they burned the Bangladeshi national flag in front of the consulate, escalating tensions in the area. A significant police presence was deployed to control the situation.

The protesters demanded the immediate release of Chinmoy Krishna Das and greater security for Hindus in Bangladesh, warning that they would intensify their actions if their demands were not addressed.
