The government’s security advisor has clarified that local police officers will carry rifles but will not have access to heavy weaponry. Instead, such powerful arms will be reserved for specialized units like the armed police battalion.
On Saturday morning, the security advisor visited the headquarters of the armed police battalion in the capital. Before heading to the regional police’s headquarters, he spoke with journalists. He emphasized that the government is working on the overall development of law enforcement agencies, including the armed police battalion and local police stations.
He also claimed that significant improvements have been made in maintaining law and order over the past eleven months under the interim government. The advisor highlighted that apart from a few minor incidents, this year’s Eid celebrations passed peacefully, reflecting the progress in security measures.
