A routine press conference by the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) Grounds Committee took an unexpected turn in Mirpur when a tense exchange erupted between committee chairman and former national captain Khaled Mashud Pilot and a senior journalist. The briefing, arranged to outline the committee’s plans for the coming months, ended on an uncomfortable note as Pilot expressed clear dissatisfaction with the tone of a journalist’s question. Moments later, after a brief but heated back‑and‑forth, he walked out of the event.
The incident has drawn concern from the Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh (COAB). In a statement signed by COAB president Mohammad Mithun, the organisation described the confrontation as “unfortunate” and “undesirable” in any professional setting. The statement emphasised the importance of maintaining mutual respect, restraint, and professionalism—especially in environments where players, officials, and media interact closely.
The episode has sparked fresh discussion within the cricket community about communication standards and the need for a more respectful atmosphere during press engagements.
