Gold price in Bangladesh reaches record high

Jewelers in Bangladesh have raised the price of gold by Tk 1,749 to Tk 1,06,375 per bhori, making a new record high for the inflating price of the yellow metal on the market in the country.

With the latest increase by Tk2,000 per bhori, 22-carat gold will cost Tk1.06 lakh, according to a Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (Bajus) press release issued on Saturday.

Also, the prices of 21-carat gold have increased to Tk101,500 per bhori and 18-carat to Tk86,983 per bhori.

The standing committee on pricing and price monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting on Saturday.The price of 22-carat gold is now Tk 9,120 per gram, while it is Tk 8,705 for 21-carat, according to a press release signed by committee chairman MA Hannan Azad.

The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 7,460 a gram, while that of traditional gold is at Tk 6,220 a gram. The new tariffs will come into effect on Sunday, the release said.

The price of 22-carat silver is Tk 147 per gram, Tk 140 for 21-carat silver, Tk 120 for 18-carat silver, and Tk 90 for traditional silver.
