Global Call for Ceasefire in Gaza

1 min read

Twenty-five countries, led by the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Canada, and the European Union, have issued a strong joint statement calling for an immediate end to the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza. The statement emphasizes the urgent need to halt the violence and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian population under blockade.

The countries expressed deep concern over the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which has reached new heights after nearly 21 months of conflict. More than two million Palestinians are enduring severe hardships, with the situation described as “extreme suffering” that demands urgent action.

The joint declaration urges a ceasefire, the release of hostages held by Hamas, and the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid. It also condemns the slow delivery of aid, the killing of children and civilians, and the deaths caused by shortages of food and water, labeling these acts as “inhumane.”

According to estimates from the United Nations and Gaza’s health ministry, at least 875 Palestinians have been killed while waiting in lines for food since late May. In response to the crisis, Israel eased its blockade slightly after more than two months of strict restrictions at the end of May.
