The Israeli military has intensified its operations in the besieged Gaza Strip, launching a wave of airstrikes and shelling aimed at seizing control of Gaza City. The latest assault, which began early Sunday morning, has left at least 78 Palestinians dead, including 32 civilians who were reportedly seeking food aid. Among the casualties are children and journalists, deepening the already dire humanitarian crisis.
Explosions echoed across Gaza as residential areas, shelters, and medical zones came under fire. Near Al-Quds Hospital, a tent shelter housing displaced families caught fire following heavy shelling. In the Rimal neighborhood, a strike on a residential building killed five and injured three others, highlighting the vulnerability of civilians amid the ongoing conflict.
Local officials have raised alarm over the tactics being used. According to Gaza’s media office, Israeli forces are deploying “explosive robots” in densely populated areas and forcibly displacing residents. Over the past three weeks, at least 80 explosive devices have reportedly been detonated, a strategy described by officials as a “scorched earth policy.”
As the offensive continues, the streets of Gaza remain tense and fractured. The scale of destruction and loss has sparked renewed calls for humanitarian access and protection of civilians. With no signs of de-escalation, the region braces for further turmoil in the days ahead.
