Five members of a family, including three children, sustained serious burn injuries in a gas line explosion near the BSCIC area of Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj district early Thursday.
The injured have been identified as Manab Chowdhury, his wife Bacha, and their daughters Tinni, Munni, and Mouri. They were rescued from their home and rushed to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, where they are receiving emergency treatment, according to resident surgeon Dr Shawon Bin Rahman.
Manab suffered the most critical injuries, with burns covering 70 percent of his body, while Bacha sustained 45 percent burns. Their children Mouri, Munni, and Tinni suffered burns of 36, 28, and 22 percent respectively.
Authorities are yet to confirm the exact cause of the blast, and further details are awaited as investigations continue.
