Garment workers protesting in Mirpur-10 of the capital have been removed to demand an increase in salary. The police removed them to keep traffic normal.
On Sunday (November 12) around 10:30 am, the police removed the garment workers from Mirpur-10.
Confirming the matter, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirpur Model Police Station Mohammad Mohsin said that around 8:30 this morning, the garment workers took position on the main road of Mirpur-10. Traffic was being disrupted on the main road in the area due to the location of the workers. Later, when the police diverted them from the main road, they left the road.
Earlier, the garment workers blocked the road of Mirpur No. 10 around 8:30 am demanding a salary increase.
Garment workers have been agitating for the last few days to raise the minimum wage to Tk 25,000. On November 7, the wage board announced the minimum wage for garment workers at 12,500 taka. Rejecting this announcement, the workers announced to continue the movement.
