On Monday morning, there was an unexpected explosion in Jyoti Bengal, oil tanker number nine of Chittagong port.
It is reported that the explosion took place in Patenga area of Chittagong around 11 am on Monday.
According to the authorities, four people were killed, including deck cadet Sourav of the 57th batch of ETB MA Chittagong.
Chittagong Fire Service Officer Kofil Uddin confirmed the recovery of the body. He said that around 11 am, the Jyoti ship of Bengal caught fire after the explosion.
Later, eight units of fire service, joint fire unit of the port, coast guard and naval forces brought the fire under control after two hours of efforts.
Managing Director of Eastern Refinery Limited. Sharif Hasnat said that the Bengal ship Jyoti brought oil from a large tanker anchored in the sea to the jetty. It is then supplied to Eastern Refineries.
According to confirmation from the authorities, the investigation team will talk to all parties involved, conduct a thorough inspection and determine the true cause of the explosion.
