Former President Abdul Hamid Leaves Bangladesh for Bangkok Amid Legal Developments

1 min read

Former President Abdul Hamid, who served during the previous Awami League government, has departed Bangladesh for Bangkok. Sources at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport confirmed that he left the country at 3:05 am on Thursday aboard Thai Airways flight TG340.

Earlier, around 11:00 pm on Wednesday, Abdul Hamid arrived at the airport and, after completing immigration formalities, proceeded to leave the country.

His departure comes amidst ongoing legal proceedings. On January 14, a case was filed at Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Abdul Hamid, and 124 others, along with 250 unidentified individuals. The charges allege involvement in attacking a rally, opening fire, and engaging in terrorist activities during an anti-discrimination student movement. Abdul Hamid was named among the accused in this case.

As he leaves Bangladesh, the political and legal landscape remains tense, with questions surrounding the ongoing investigations and their potential implications.
