Five members of a family, including two women, sustained serious burn injuries in a fire caused by a gas cylinder explosion in Ashulia on Wednesday morning.
The injured are Jewel, 24; Shanto, 21; Haowa Akter, 40; Jahurul, 26; and Jahanara, 40, all residents of Faridpur district.
Kamal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Ashulia Police Station (investigation), said the blast took place on the second floor of a house near a garment factory in Narsingpur area during the morning hours.
The injured were initially taken to Ashulia Women and Children Hospital. As their conditions deteriorated, they were transferred to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for specialized treatment.
Police and fire service teams visited the scene, where the explosion caused significant damage to the house walls. The incident has raised concerns over gas cylinder safety in the area.
