A blaze that erupted at the densely populated Saat Tola slum in Dhaka’s Mohakhali on Wednesday afternoon has been brought under control. The fire broke out at around 2:37pm, sending thick plumes of smoke over the area and prompting a swift emergency response.
Five firefighting units three from Tejgaon and two from Kurmitola managed to contain the flames by 3:18pm, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The cause of the fire and the scale of damage remain under investigation, but no casualties have been reported so far. Authorities say further assessments will determine the extent of losses and whether any residents have been displaced. Emergency crews remain on site to monitor for potential flare‑ups.
