Filipino pop music is stepping onto some of the world’s biggest stages, with BINI’s Coachella debut marking a milestone moment for P‑pop and opening the door for more Filipino artists to reach global audiences. Philippine music journalist Kara Angan said BINI’s appearance at the iconic festival was a “really big deal,” introducing Filipino culture and sound to listeners who may never have encountered it otherwise.
“It brings Filipino culture and Filipino music to an audience that probably might not have chosen to listen to BINI in the first place,” Angan said, noting how the group’s Tagalog‑language performances challenge long‑held assumptions about what global audiences will embrace.
And BINI are far from alone. Filipino‑British singer‑songwriter Beabadoobee is set to perform at Lollapalooza in the United States this July, while SB19 will make history as the first Filipino group to appear at the same festival. Angan said the rise of these artists all proudly performing in Tagalog proves that language is no longer a barrier in global music.
Their success signals a new era for P‑pop, one where Filipino artists are not just participating in global festivals but shaping them.
