Actress Evangeline Lilly, widely known for her role as the Wasp in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has shared a difficult health update, revealing long‑term effects from a traumatic brain injury she suffered in May 2025.
In a video posted to her social media, Lilly told fans she was entering the new year with “bad news” about her concussion. She explained that many had been asking about her condition since her fall last year, prompting her to speak openly about her recovery.
Lilly said recent medical scans showed “almost every area” of her brain is functioning at a reduced capacity.
“I do have brain damage from the TBI,” she said, adding that doctors are still assessing whether other factors may be involved.
Despite the challenges, she emphasized her commitment to working closely with her medical team and taking responsibility for her healing journey, even though the process feels overwhelming at times.
Finding Calm After the Accident
Lilly also reflected on how the injury forced her to slow down and embrace rest.
She said her cognitive decline unexpectedly brought a sense of peace, making the end of 2025 one of the calmest periods she has experienced in more than a decade.
“This was the most restful Christmas holiday I’ve had in 14 years,” the Lost star shared, calling the experience both “grateful” and “blessed.”
What Happened in May 2025?
The actress suffered the injury after fainting on a beach and falling face‑first into a large boulder. She later wrote in a blog post that the impact left her with a traumatic brain injury and a deep facial wound.
At the hospital, medical staff focused on determining the cause of her blackout rather than the visible injury. Lilly recalled telling them, “You won’t find anything,” as she drifted in and out of consciousness.
Lilly has not appeared in any film or project since Ant‑Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023). In 2024, she announced she would be stepping away from Hollywood for a period of personal reflection and rest.
