Escalating Tensions: Hezbollah Launches Major Rocket Barrage on Israel

2 min read

In a dramatic escalation of hostilities, Israel’s military reports that Hezbollah has fired approximately 250 rockets into northern and central Israel, marking one of the heaviest bombardments since the conflict reignited in September.

The strikes have resulted in injuries and significant damage to buildings, including areas near Tel Aviv. This surge in violence follows an Israeli airstrike on central Beirut that claimed 29 lives, according to Lebanese health officials.

In a twist of fate, reports suggest that both Israel and Lebanon may be inching towards a ceasefire agreement, despite the ongoing assaults. Following the rocket fire, debris was reported in the Tel Aviv area, with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirming a direct hit that left homes in flames.

Hezbollah, responding to the airstrike on Beirut, stated it targeted two military sites in Israel. Meanwhile, the IDF has launched strikes on 12 Hezbollah command centers in Beirut’s Dahieh neighborhood.

The toll in Lebanon has risen alarmingly, with over 3,670 fatalities and more than a million people displaced since the conflict escalated in October. As Israel continues its offensive against Hezbollah, the urgency for a ceasefire grows, with reports indicating a possible US-backed resolution is on the horizon. However, significant gaps still remain in the negotiations.
