Emma Watson and Zoe Wanamaker Receive Speeding Ban in Separate Incidents

Emma Watson, renowned for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series, has been banned from driving after being caught speeding. The 35-year-old actress was stopped in Banbury, southeast England, for driving her blue Audi at 38 miles per hour in a 30-mph zone. She was fined and received a six-month driving ban. Watson, who is currently studying at Oxford University, did not attend the hearing, but her lawyer confirmed she has the means to pay the fine of £1,044 (approximately $2,143).

In a separate case on the same day, Zoe Wanamaker, who played Quidditch teacher Madame Hooch in the original Harry Potter film The Philosopher’s Stone, was also banned from driving for six months. Wanamaker, 76, was caught speeding at 46 mph in a 40-mph zone on the M4 motorway in Berkshire last August. Her case was heard in the magistrates court in High Wycombe, and she was also fined £1,044. Wanamaker did not attend the hearing.

Both stars’ cases highlight ongoing issues with speeding, though neither attended their respective hearings. Watson’s last film appearance was in the 2019 adaptation of Little Women, directed by Greta Gerwig.
