An eight-year-old boy has died following a head-on collision between two e-bikes on the Sunshine Coast.
Queensland Police said the crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. on a bike path near the Kawana Way and Sunshine Motorway interchange at Mountain Creek. The collision involved a 15-year-old male rider and the younger boy, who were travelling in opposite directions.
The eight-year-old was rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a life-threatening condition but later died from his injuries. The older boy declined medical treatment and is assisting police with their inquiries.
The Forensic Crash Unit has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident. Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant footage to come forward.
