Dhaka Sees Heavy Influx as Government Employees Return After Eid Holidays

1 min read

Following the week‑long Eid‑ul‑Fitr holiday, large numbers of government employees and working professionals have begun returning to Dhaka, prompting increased pressure across major transport hubs. Bus terminals, railway stations and river ports were crowded throughout Monday as people rushed back ahead of offices reopening.

Eid‑ul‑Fitr celebrated nationwide on 21 March with religious devotion and festive enthusiasm was accompanied by a seven‑day public holiday from 17 to 23 March. The newspaper industry also observed a five‑day break declared by the Newspaper Owners’ Association of Bangladesh (NOAB), running from 19 to 23 March.

With the holiday period ending, the capital is gradually shifting back into its usual rhythm. Administrative offices, financial institutions and media organisations are set to resume full operations, marking the country’s return to regular economic and civic activity.
