Actress Nusraat Faria has been granted bail by a Dhaka court after being detained earlier this week in connection with an attempted murder case linked to the 2024 anti-discrimination student movement. The Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman approved her bail on Tuesday during a hearing on her petition, according to her lawyer, Barrister Mohammad Iftekhar Hossain.

Faria’s legal troubles began when she was detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday, May 18, just as she was about to board a flight to Thailand with Biman Bangladesh Airlines. She was initially taken into custody by immigration police and later handed over to Bhatara police. Subsequently, she was transferred to the Detective Branch (DB) office.

She was subsequently named as an arrestee in a case filed at Bhatara Police Station concerning the attempted murder of Enamul Haque during the July uprising. Police sources confirmed that an arrest warrant had been issued for Faria in connection with the case, and her detention was based on that warrant.

With her bail now secured, Faria’s legal case continues to unfold amid ongoing investigations into the incident that has drawn significant attention in the region.
