Dengue: 1,108 hospitalized and 8 more deaths in a 24-hour

Up until Tuesday morning, eight more dengue-related deaths were reported in Bangladesh.

With the fatalities, the toll rose to 223 since 1 January, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Besides, in 24 hours, 1,108 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever, taking the caseload to 44,764.

Of the deaths, four were reported from the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and one each from Barishal, Chattogram, and Dhaka divisions, and the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

Among the dengue patients, 281 were admitted to hospitals in the Dhaka division (outside the city corporations), 174 under th e DSCC, and 164 under the DNCC.

On 12 October, the country logged nine deaths from dengue in the last 24 hours, marking the highest number of fatalities from the viral infection in a single day so far this year.
