At least 5,087 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed since the war began, according to new figures released by Gaza health officials.

Among the dead are 2,055 children, 1,119 women, and 217 elderly people, the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry says.

Before the latest update, the death toll as stated by Gaza officials stood at 4,651.

The ministry also says 15,274 people have been wounded, up from 14,245 yesterday.

In Israel, the latest casualty figures show about 1,400 people have been killed — most during Hamas’s initial attack on October 7 — and 4,932 have been wounded, the UN has reported, citing Israeli official sources.
