Australian aerial skier Danielle Scott has surged back into top form, securing her first World Cup victory in almost three years a perfectly timed confidence boost ahead of next month’s Winter Olympics in Italy. The thirty five year old, a three time Olympian, has struggled through a difficult season but delivered a powerful comeback performance at Lake Placid in the United States.

Scott posted 95.88 points in the super final to claim gold, edging out China’s reigning Olympic champion Xu Mengtai, who scored 94.01. America’s 2025 world champion Kaila Kuhn finished third with 92.29.

Fellow Australians Laura Peel winner of the previous World Cup event in Canada and Airleigh Frigo placed sixth and seventh respectively after Peel was unable to land her final jump cleanly.

Scott, whose last World Cup win came in March 2023, said the victory felt especially meaningful after a challenging season.
“I’m just letting this sink in. I’ve had a rough run this season,” she said.
“A lot of highs and lows … today I just needed to go prove myself, and I did that, so I’m stoked.”

The win marks the seventh World Cup triumph of Scott’s career and positions her as a strong medal contender as the Olympic countdown continues.
