All‑rounder Cole McConchie has been drafted into New Zealand’s T20 World Cup squad to replace the injured Michael Bracewell, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed on Monday after the tournament’s technical committee approved the change.

Bracewell tore his calf during a 50‑over match against India last month. Although he recovered in time to join the World Cup squad, he re‑injured the muscle during warm‑ups ahead of New Zealand’s opening match against Afghanistan on 8 February.

McConchie a middle‑order batter and right‑arm spinner has represented New Zealand in 12 T20 internationals, most recently appearing for the national side in April 2024.

New Zealand eye Super Eight qualification
New Zealand have won two of their three Group D matches so far. A victory over Canada on Tuesday would secure their place in the Super Eight stage.
