Chittagong Club Australia (CCA) is the traditional host. The event starts at 5 pm on Sunday (May 26) at Minto in Sydney and runs until midnight.
The special attraction of the event was Chittagong’s traditional Mejbani beef, Nala, chickpeas, mutton, chicken, and white rice. The spontaneous participation of more than 3,000 people along with the Bangladeshi diaspora in Australia and the hospitality of Bangladeshi people was eye-catching.
This time also no entry fee has been charged to host CCA. Free entry tickets are distributed. However, online registration was mandatory for the discipline of the event.
The ceremony started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Then the national anthems of Bangladesh and Australia were performed in unison. CCA Secretary Sadia Haque’s vivacious performance and the performance of local Bangladeshi artistes was an enjoyable cultural program.
CCA President Dr. Sheikh Salauddin congratulated everyone in his welcome speech. He introduced the special guests on the occasion and highlighted various public service activities of CCA.
On behalf of the CCA members, Syed Akram Ullah presented the financial statement and introduced the main sponsors. Apart from Rain & Horne Ingleburn and Expert Finance & Accounting, other sponsors included Nirala Holdings, Farm Finance, Inves Tax, Guzman y Gomez, ESY Global, Chili Basil Thai Restaurant, Mejbani Restaurant & Catering, and Syed Brothers Super Shop.
Interesting magazine published on the occasion of Mejban edited by Faiz Mohammad. Stories, poems, and drawings written by Australian expatriates as well as new generations of children and teenagers are published. Local artists including the Sydney Expat Dream Band perform music and dance.
Masum Rana, owner and head chef of Mezbani Restaurant, and his team, completed the daring task of cooking food for so many people at once in Sydney.
