China and Bangladesh Mark 50 Years of Diplomatic Ties with Pledge to Deepen Cooperation

Chinese President Xi Jinping has reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening ties with Bangladesh, calling for deeper cooperation and shared development as the two nations celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations.

In a letter to Bangladeshi President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Saturday, Xi emphasized the importance of the longstanding friendship and expressed China’s readiness to expand mutually beneficial partnerships. He said the anniversary offers a chance to enhance collaboration and contribute to global peace and progress.

Xi noted that recent years have seen growing political trust between the two countries, along with expanded cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and broader strategic engagement across multiple sectors.

President Shahabuddin responded by highlighting the enduring friendship built on mutual respect and trust. He praised China’s role in promoting regional stability and prosperity and thanked Beijing for its continued support of Bangladesh’s development goals.

He expressed confidence that joint efforts from both governments and their citizens would lead to even stronger bilateral achievements in the future.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Bangladeshi Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus also exchanged congratulatory messages. Li reiterated China’s commitment to accelerating Belt and Road cooperation and deepening ties with Bangladesh.
