Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has emphasized the importance of vigilance and preparedness among newly commissioned officers, urging them to remain ever-ready to safeguard the country’s sovereignty.
During his address at the Summer President Parade of the Bangladesh Navy held at Chattogram Naval Academy on Sunday morning, the army chief highlighted the qualities needed for this responsibility. “Young officers must always be ready to protect the nation, strengthened by the spirit of honesty, discipline, and self-sacrifice,” he said.
He praised the Bangladesh Navy as a highly organized force, emphasizing its crucial role in defending maritime sovereignty, securing marine resources, combating sea-based crimes, and maintaining good governance in maritime areas.
The parade began with the army chief inspecting the ceremony aboard a jeep, followed by a salute from eight platoons of young officers. He also awarded the top performers of the training programme.
Senior officials from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with high-ranking government officials, local dignitaries, and the parents of the officers, attended the event, underscoring its significance.
