The Canadian government has issued a fresh travel advisory urging its citizens to exercise a high degree of caution when considering trips to Bangladesh. The warning comes amid expectations of political protests, demonstrations, and the potential for related violence.
Officials cautioned that the security situation in the country could deteriorate suddenly, leaving little time for travelers to react. Citizens are advised to remain vigilant and carefully assess the risks before making travel plans.
The advisory applies broadly across Bangladesh, where a “yellow” alert has been placed, signaling the need for heightened awareness and caution. Travelers are encouraged to avoid large gatherings, monitor local developments, and prepare for possible disruptions.
A stricter warning has been issued for the Chittagong Hill Tracts, where a “red” alert is in effect. Travel to the three districts in this region is strongly discouraged due to ongoing politically motivated violence, abductions, and sporadic clashes among ethnic minority groups.
The government emphasized that these measures are intended to safeguard citizens as the political climate in Bangladesh remains volatile. Travelers are urged to reconsider non-essential visits and prioritize safety when making decisions about their journeys.
