BTRC Orders Free 1GB Internet for All on July 18 to Mark Anniversary of Blackout

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission has directed all mobile phone operators across the country to provide one gigabyte of free internet to every user on July 18. This initiative marks one year since the internet blackout imposed by the previous Awami League government during a harsh crackdown.

The free internet will be available for five days, according to the BTRC’s directive issued on Wednesday. The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has also issued related instructions to facilitate this initiative.
