The body of Squadron Leader Toukir Islam Sagar, the pilot who tragically died in the Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crash in Uttara, has arrived in Rajshahi.

His body was transported by helicopter to Rajshahi Cantonment at 2:55 pm on Tuesday and was subsequently taken to his residence in the Upashahar area. Toukir’s uncle, Matiur Rahman, confirmed the details, stating that after hearing of his death on Monday, the family traveled to Dhaka.

Following a funeral prayer held in Dhaka on Tuesday, Sagar’s body was flown to Rajshahi by a Bangladesh Air Force helicopter. From the cantonment, it was moved to his home by a hearse.

The funeral prayer is scheduled for 4:30 pm on Tuesday afternoon, with burial to take place at the Sapura graveyard in Rajshahi. Relatives said the body would be taken to the District Muktijuddho Smriti Stadium for the funeral prayer.

Sagar’s father, Tahurul Islam, a businessman, hails from Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj. Despite their ancestral roots in Shibganawabganj, the family has resided in Rajshahi city for the past 25 years, currently living in a rented house in Upashahar.

Since the crash on Monday, neighbors, relatives, and onlookers have gathered outside the house, named ‘Ashroy.’ On Monday afternoon, under the supervision of the Air Force, Sagar’s mother Saleha Khatun, along with his father, maternal uncle Mohammad Ali, younger sister Srishti Khatun, and her husband Dr. Tuhin Islam, were flown to Dhaka. They returned to Rajshahi with the body.
