BNP Leader Warns of Risks to Democracy if Election Faces Disruption

1 min read

BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu has warned that any disruption in the upcoming national election could derail the country’s democratic aspirations and even threaten its independence and sovereignty. He claimed that a neighbouring country is waiting for instability that could prevent Bangladesh from achieving a fair election and a democratic transition. He urged everyone to remain alert and cautious.

He made the remarks on Thursday afternoon at an event outside the National Press Club, where the Nationalist Professionals’ Forum distributed blankets to vulnerable people in memory of Begum Khaleda Zia.

Dudu also said several political parties are making various statements ahead of the election. According to him, one party has already aligned itself with the government before the polls by maintaining a close relationship with those in power. He identified that party as the NCP.
