The BNP says it believes its victory in Bangladesh’s 13th national parliamentary election is “inevitable,” but the party’s top leadership has called on all leaders and activists to remain fully vigilant until the official results are announced. The message came from Mahdi Amin, spokesperson for the party’s central election steering committee and adviser to the chairperson, during a press briefing on Thursday evening after voting ended.
Amin said the people of Bangladesh cast their ballots with emotion, expectation and a renewed commitment to democratic rights. He expressed confidence that whichever government emerges from the vote will honour the public mandate with sincerity.
Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami chief Dr Shafiqur Rahman said his party would accept the results if they reflect the same peaceful and orderly pattern seen throughout the day provided there is no major interference. He made the remarks at a post‑poll press conference at the C Lounge Restaurant in Mirpur‑10, organised by the 11‑party electoral alliance for the Dhaka‑15 constituency.
