BNP-Australia seeks Australia’s cooperation to restore democracy

BNP-Australia held a meeting with the shadow minister of the Australian Foreign Minister on Tuesday, August 13, demanding the Australian government’s urgent intervention to restore stability and democracy in Bangladesh.

In addition, they also met with the leader of the opposition party the Liberal Party, Senator Simon Birmingham. This time, the senior senator of the Liberal Party, Endoberg, was present.

As a development and trade partner of Bangladesh, they urge the Australian government and the opposition to support the interim government and condemn India’s propaganda and interference.

Leaders of BNP Australia said the following measures were requested to the Australian Foreign Minister to be tabled in Parliament and Cabinet:

1. Request the Australian Government to lodge a case with the International Criminal Court (ICC) and assist in issuing arrest warrants against Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, and their associates for crimes against humanity.

2. Demands to call on India to stop interfering in the affairs of Bangladesh and to respect the sovereignty of Bangladesh.

3. The government and the opposition in Australia should agree to declare that Australia will not be a haven for criminals fleeing Bangladesh.

4. Those who have supported Sheikh Hasina for the past 17 years should not be nominated by the Liberal Party to Local Government Areas (LGAs).

Former General Secretary Liaquat Ali Swapan, Advocate Nasir Ullah, Md Abul Hasan, ANM Masum, and Khairul Kabir Pintu were present in the delegation led by Mosleh Uddin Howlader Arif on behalf of BNP Australia.
