BNP Australia observes 43rd death anniversary of Ziaur Rahman

BNP Australia held a discussion and prayer program on the occasion of Ziaur Rahman’s 43rd martyrdom anniversary. The event was held on Friday 31st, 2024 at the United Hall in Luckemba, Sydney.

Under the chairmanship of Professor Dr. Humayer Chowdhury Rana, Begum Selima Rahman, one of the members of the BNP Standing Committee, spoke as the chief guest, BNP Vice Chairman Mr. Shamsuzzaman Dudu, BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal spoke as special guests.

Under the leadership of Member Secretary Engineer Habib Rahman and Md Abul Hasan, ANM Masum, founding president of BNP Australia, Enamul Haque Bhuiyan, former president Monirul Haque George (virtual), former senior joint convener Md Mosleh Uddin Howladar Arif, former general secretary Liakat Ali Swapan spoke among the leaders of the Martyrdom Anniversary Commemoration Committee.

Ex-Vice President Ruhul Ahmed Saudagar, Ex-Treasurer Advocate Nasir Ullah, BNP Leader Engineer Sohail Iqbal Mahmud, AKM Fazlul Haque Shafiq, SM Nigar Elahi Chowdhury, Habib Mohammad Joki, Ex-President of Volunteer Party Tarek Ul Islam Tarek, Jassar Abdus Samad Shiblu, (Jubadal) Engineer Minhaj Uddin (Jubadal) gave a speech in the program.

At the beginning of the program, Maulana Ferdous Ahmed recited from the Holy Quran and prayed for the soul of Ziaur Rahman and the physical well-being of Begum Khaleda Zia and Tariq Rahman.

The guests in their speech highlighted various aspects of the political life of martyred President Ziaur Rahman.

In the speech of the special guest, Mr. Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal said, that if Ziaur Rahman had not been born, nobody knows when Bangladesh would have become independent. And this Awami League got the opportunity to do politics during his rule through multi-party democracy.

In the speech of the chief guest, Begum Selima Rahman said that the Prime Minister often said – where was Khaleda Zia during the war? Khaleda Zia along with her two children were kept in prison. And where was the present Prime Minister at that time? From independence war to multi-party democracy, everything is the contribution of the Zia family.

In the president’s speech, Dr. Humayer Chowdhury Rana said that Ziaur Rahman was killed in a domestic-foreign conspiracy to end BNP. But those who thought that BNP would end with the killing of Ziaur Rahman, begum Khaleda Zia came down from being a housewife to politics, smearing chalk on their faces. Under his leadership, the BNP reestablished parliamentary democracy and suffrage in the country.

Among the leaders of Western Australia BNP, Masood Akand, Engineer Mostafiz Al Mamun and Shraban Ahmed were present virtually at the event.
