The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Australia organized a historic National Revolution and Solidarity Day. In connection with this day, BNP Australia arranged a discussion and cultural program on November 17, 2024, at the United Church in Lakemba, Sydney.
The meeting was chaired by BNP Australia President Mohammad Mosleh Uddin Howlader Arif, with General Secretary Mohammad Abul Hasan serving as the moderator. The chief guest was Advocate Nitai Ray Chowdhury, Vice Chairman of the BNP National Executive Committee, who delivered a keynote speech. Special guest Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, Joint Secretary of the BNP, also addressed the gathering.
Prominent leaders from the Australian BNP chapter shared their insights, including former Vice President Ruhul Ahmed Sawdagar, former General Secretary Liakat Ali Swapan (via virtual connection), former Treasurer Advocate Nasir Ullah, and others.
In his address, Advocate Nitai Ray Chowdhury emphasized the significance of November 7 in Bangladesh’s political history, stating, “This day marks the historic revolution of the soldiers and the people, which altered the political landscape of the country.”
Special guest Advocate Abdus Salam Azad reflected on the political changes following the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15, 1975, noting that “under the leadership of Major General Ziaur Rahman, the country regained its independence and sovereignty, emerging as a strong entity.”
Chairman Mohammad Mosleh Uddin Howlader Arif highlighted that the BNP and the Zia family have historically led three liberation movements in Bangladesh. He affirmed that in 2024, the BNP’s acting chairman, the leader Tarique Rahman, would guide the nation towards the third liberation war and the creation of a new Bangladesh.
The event concluded with a cultural performance by former student leader Imran Ahmed, who captivated the audience with his songs, adding a festive spirit to the gathering.
