In response to a recent incident involving an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has begun comprehensive safety checks across its entire Dreamliner fleet to maintain operational safety and integrity.

The national carrier stated today that, although the cause of the Air India mishap remains under investigation, Biman’s Engineering Division proactively initiated detailed inspections of its Boeing 787 aircraft. These assessments focus on critical systems including the engine fuel system, electronic engine control, electrical power supply, hydraulics, air conditioning, and flight control systems.

Additionally, power assurance checks on the engines have been carried out to ensure full performance capability. The airline emphasized its readiness to swiftly implement any maintenance directives issued by Boeing once the investigation concludes.

Currently, Biman operates six Boeing 787 Dreamliners four of the 787-8 variant and two of the 787-9 serving various international routes. All maintenance work is conducted strictly in accordance with the Aircraft Maintenance Programme approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB). This programme aligns with Boeing’s Maintenance Planning Document and other regulatory standards, ensuring that all tasks are performed by certified engineers following official manuals and guidelines.

Biman reaffirmed its commitment to safety, underscoring that all inspections and maintenance activities are overseen by type-rated engineers, with the highest adherence to international safety standards.
