The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is preparing to formally write to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after pacer Mustafizur Rahman was removed from the Kolkata Knight Riders squad citing security reasons. A senior BCB official confirmed the decision on Saturday night following an emergency meeting.
“Yes, we are writing to the ICC,” the official confrimed. “We will raise three points one is about Mustafizur, another is about the current security situation, and why decisions are being taken citing security reasons.”
Mustafizur’s sudden exclusion has sparked political and security concerns, especially with Bangladeshi players expected to travel to India for next month’s T20 World Cup. The BCB is now seeking clarity on the broader security environment surrounding the tournament.
The official added that the board is equally worried about the safety of non‑playing personnel.
“It is not just players who travel. Our media, journalists and sponsors also go, and we need to ask the BCCI for clarity on the security status for everyone,” he said.
The BCB’s letter is expected to address both the immediate issue involving Mustafizur and the wider implications for all Bangladeshi stakeholders traveling to India.
