Barbara Palvin Reveals Endometriosis Diagnosis and Recovery After Surgery

2 min read

Hungarian model and actor Barbara Palvin has opened up about a deeply personal health journey, disclosing that she was diagnosed with endometriosis and has recently undergone surgery to treat the condition.

In an Instagram post shared over the weekend, the 31-year-old described years of “fatigue, severe pain, heavy and irregular flow, sleepless nights on the bathroom floor” that she’d long accepted as part of her cycles. Only after a friend encouraged her to consult an endometriosis specialist did Palvin learn that her symptoms went beyond general menstrual discomfort.

Three months after seeking a specialist evaluation, Palvin underwent laparoscopic surgery to remove tissue growing outside her uterus. She says the operation brought the relief she’d been craving. “Since then, I finally experienced a period that was easier, and now I know the difference,” she wrote, adding that she’s “grateful I did it.”

Endometriosis affects tissue similar to the uterine lining when it appears elsewhere in the body often on the ovaries, fallopian tubes or pelvic lining and can lead to chronic pain, fatigue and fertility challenges. Experts estimate roughly one in ten women of reproductive age contend with the condition, yet many go undiagnosed for years because standard exams often miss it.

Palvin urged anyone enduring similar struggles to be proactive: “Early diagnosis and treatment are very important to prevent long-term complications, and now I’m more mindful about my body to act fast if needed.” She also revealed she used her three-month recovery period to rest fully, and said she’s excited to embark on “this new chapter” and return to work.

By sharing her story, Palvin joins a growing chorus of public figures shining a light on women’s health issues, hoping to break the stigma and inspire others to seek timely care.
