Bangladesh’s Peacekeepers: Committed, Prepared, and Respected on the Global Stage

Bangladesh’s commitment to peacekeeping missions remains unwavering, with the Army Chief, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, affirming that Bangladeshi peacekeepers are ever-ready to confront any challenge, risking their lives while upholding the highest standards of training, integrity, and impartiality.

Addressing a ceremony at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka on Thursday observing the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers he praised Bangladesh’s significant contributions to international peace and security. “Our dedication to peacekeeping has earned us global recognition,” he stated. “Through continuous participation in UN missions, Bangladesh remains steadfast in its resolve to promote peace worldwide.”

The Army Chief reassured diplomats and international friends of Bangladesh’s enduring commitment. “I want to assure you that Bangladesh will keep responding to the UN’s call for peace. Our commitment is grounded in the principles of our Liberation War and our constitutional values. We will always stand for global peace,” he emphasized.

During the event, General Waker-Uz-Zaman paid tribute to 168 brave soldiers and police personnel who lost their lives in various peacekeeping operations. “We will remember their sacrifices with deep respect and gratitude,” he said.

Expressing pride in Bangladesh’s role on the international stage, the Army Chief highlighted the nation’s rising stature as a respected contributor to peacekeeping efforts worldwide. “Responding to the UN’s calls, Bangladesh has actively participated in peace missions, demonstrating our dedication to fostering stability and harmony across conflict zones,” he added.

The event reaffirmed Bangladesh’s position as a committed, capable, and highly regarded peacekeeping nation, dedicated to maintaining peace and security around the globe.
