Bangladesh’s national election on January 7

CEC addressed the nation on Wednesday (November 15) at 7 pm. There he announced the schedule of the 12th parliamentary elections. The speech was broadcast live on Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Radio.

The deadline for submitting nomination papers is November 30. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted by December 1-4, and the final date for withdrawing candidacy is December 17.

Unveiling the polls schedule, Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal urged all political parties to join the election.

According to the announced schedule, the last date for submission of nomination papers for the election is November 30, scrutiny of nomination papers will be from December 1 to 4, nomination appeal and disposal will be from December 6 to 15, the last date for withdrawal of candidature will be December 17, allotment of symbols will be on December 18, election campaigning will be on December 18. to 8 am on January 5 and polling will be held on January 7.

While announcing the schedule, the CEC said that the appointment of 66 returning officers and 592 assistant returning officers for the parliamentary elections has been finalized.

According to the Representation of the People Order (RPO), candidates from registered political parties will need party nominations to participate in parliamentary elections. A certificate signed by one percent of the total voters of the constituency will be required if someone wants to vote as an independent. However, if someone has won as an independent candidate in the past, this will not be mandatory.
