The National Citizen Party (NCP) has held courtesy and policy discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission team in Dhaka. The meeting took place on Friday at the Intercontinental Hotel, according to a statement issued by the party’s media cell editor, Mushfiq Us Salehin.
During the talks, the NCP delegation expressed gratitude for the IMF’s continued support during Bangladesh’s economic crisis and for providing a clear roadmap to implement urgent reforms. Party representatives emphasized that such reforms are crucial for achieving sustainable development. The IMF, meanwhile, raised concerns about Bangladesh’s GDP growth, revenue collection, revenue-to-GDP ratio, distressed assets, and youth employment.
In a separate development, ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Elections, Masum Billah has collected his nomination papers to contest from Rangpur-6 (Pirganj) under the NCP banner. Billah serves as a central organizer of the National Youth Power and is also a member of the Rangpur divisional subcommittee. He collected his nomination papers from the party’s central office on Friday.
Masum Billah holds both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Arabic from Dhaka University. Active in social and cultural activities since his student life, he has long been engaged in strengthening the NCP’s organizational presence in the Rangpur region. His efforts have focused on consolidating the party’s grassroots position and expanding its influence across local communities.
The dual developments NCP’s engagement with the IMF and the nomination of Masum Billah highlight the party’s growing role in both economic policy dialogue and electoral politics, signaling its intent to shape Bangladesh’s future at multiple levels.
