Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain announced on Saturday that the interim government is committed to facilitating a swift transition to an elected government, amidst ongoing political uncertainty. Speaking at the “Branding Bangladesh” event in a city hotel, he revealed that a roadmap for upcoming elections will be disclosed soon.
Hossain also addressed concerns regarding negative portrayals of Bangladesh in the Indian media over the past four months, which he claims have fueled international misconceptions. “Reports suggest a war-like situation along the Bangladesh-India border, alongside claims of persecution against the Hindu community here,” he stated, emphasizing the need for local media cooperation to counteract this misinformation.
Additionally, the adviser acknowledged valid complaints from expatriates regarding inadequate support from Bangladeshi embassies abroad. He assured that the government would implement measures to protect expatriates, particularly in instances of harassment at airports.
