Bangladeshi expatriates in Australia have once again demonstrated their unwavering patriotism and commitment to aiding their homeland in times of crisis.
On October 27th, “Stand for Bangladesh,” a charity event, was held at Bowman Hall in Blacktown, Sydney, to support flood-affected families in Bangladesh and the victims of the tragic July Uprising. This impactful initiative was spearheaded by the alumni associations of 12 prominent Bangladeshi universities, showcasing a unified effort to bring relief to those in need.
The event, sponsored by Nirala Holdings, saw alumni communities from AIUB, IUB, NSU, BUET, Chittagong University, East-West University, Jahangirnagar University, Khulna University, KUET, Rajshahi University, and SUST Australia come together in an inspiring show of solidarity and dedication.
Consular General Mr. Shakhawat Hossain graced the event as the chief guest, alongside distinguished guests MP Warren Eric Kirby, MP Mark Joseph Coure, and local councilors Ibrahim Khalil, Ashiqur Rahman, and Eliza Azad Rahman. The evening was filled with performances by Rahat Shantanu and bands Krishti and Dhumketu, while a heartfelt children’s art exhibition on disaster themes moved the audience. For those unable to attend in person, a “Star Board” honored their donations with personal acknowledgments.
Funds raised will be directed to the Bangladesh government’s relief programs and the July Foundation. Organizers affirmed that the Bangladeshi diaspora remains deeply committed to supporting their beloved motherland, embodying brotherhood and compassion across borders.
